Rock Box Bouldering COVID19 procedures

Part 1: Employee hygiene and cleaning procedures

-If an employee is sick or has felt sick with COVID19 symptoms in the past two weeks, they must either wait two weeks before returning to work or receive a negative result from a reliable coronavirus diagnostic test. Rock Box Bouldering will compensate employees for paying for a test if payment is required, but procurement is the responsibility of the employee

-On every hour, and between every shift, staff will sanitize common-touch surfaces including, but not limited to:

Door handles/push bars, keyboards, counters, sink knobs, bathroom stall latches, liquid chalk dispensers, telephones, computer mice, and hand sanitizer pumps/bottles

-Upon starting a shift, coughing, sneezing, or eating, an employee must wash their hands afterwards, with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds.

-Employees are required to wear a cloth mask with at least two layers of material during their shift. Rock Box Bouldering has ordered masks but their arrival date is unknown. It is ultimately the responsibility of the employee to procure a mask.

-Employees will monitor the liquid chalk dispensers for adequate levels of alcohol saturation, at least once per shift

-Employees will enforce the reservation system and ask those without reserved time to leave.

-When stripping routes, hold will be quarantined for at least 80 hours to inactivate the virus before being pressure washed.

-After pressure washing holds will be submerged in a bleach solution for sterilization.

-Carpet vacuuming at the end of the night is now only required in zones that had powdered chalk used in them (either from setting or from customers requesting a hold chalked up)\

-Employees are required to report if they have or have had a confirmed case of COVID19, including date the test was performed.

-In good weather, doors should be kept open to increase ventilation

Part 2: New procedures for customers

-Masks will be required for customers. We have masks on order but their arrival date is currently unknown. It is ultimately the responsibility of the customer to procure a mask.

-If you feel sick, please don’t come to the gym.

-Occupancy will be reduced to a number in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines

-We are eliminating morning hours during this time- on weekdays we will always open at 1 PM.

-During the first phase of Rock Box Reopening, only members will be allowed to climb. This phase will last for at least two weeks. We want to make sure our members have the ability to climb at a time that isn’t too inconvenient with the limited occupancy.

-All climbing will have reserved timeslots in our calendar system, in chunks of one hour. If you come to the gym without making a reservation you may get lucky and have an open spot available, but we highly suggest reserving time. Slots may be reserved up to a week in advance, and you can only reserve two hours of time per day. Customers are limited to three visits a week.

-If you are in the gym past your reserved time you may be asked at any point to leave if someone comes in to claim the last reserved spot.

-All classes and events are cancelled.

-Constant climber cards punches are reduced to 7 per month to complete a card. Double punch Fridays are suspended. Rollover is still 3 to 1.

-Customers will be asked to use hand sanitizer or wash their hands upon entering the gym

-Powder chalk is banned- liquid chalk only. If a customer would like a specific hold dusted with powder chalk please alert the staff and we can do it for you.

Part 3: Confirmed case procedures

-Upon discovery of a customer or employee with a confirmed case of COVID19, the gym will close for three days for cleaning and route resetting.

-If over 50% of employees are in quarantine due to symptoms (but have not been tested due to lack of availability of tests), we will treat this as a confirmed case.

-The person(s) with a confirmed case will have their shifts/reservations from the past two weeks looked up, and those who were present while they were working/climbing will be notified.

-To cope with the potential for full resets, route density will be kept lower, but setting will happen more frequently. The gym will full reset in about 3 weeks, instead of the usual month. There will be 30% less routes on the wall than usual (4-7 per section instead of 6-10)
